Debenhams at Hastings 1927
The Debenhams building at Robertson Street was the last design from Henry Ward and and was completed in 1927 for Plummer Roddis. (William Plummer, George Roddis and Reginald Tyrell) It was the last building from Ward who died in 1928. The last day of trading for Debenhams seems to be the 4th May 2021 when the building may have some different users.
After the permanent closure of Debenhams in May 2021 it is confirmed in July 2021 that it has been purchased for £2.6 million by Moxie, a property development company. Possible proposed uses for indoor entertainment include cinema, ten pin bowling, golf, gym, with no plans for any residential use.
After about 17 months the refurbished building is due to reopen as a leisure centre with lots of activities including Pirate Smugglers Experience,1066 Experience, Retro arcade machines and also buffet.

December 2021 The first planning indication that regeneration proposals are moving ahead is for a new door to be installed on the left of the Ward building 1-3 Robertson Street. The application respects the existing frontage and will enable access via the existing elevators to upper parts of the building. HS/FA/21/960. In October 2022 the Henry Ward designed building near to the Memorial will soon open as Owens an entertainment centre. Also on the site Freedom Works providing offices and hot desking.
