Pre Planning Forum for Travelodge Hotel and Summerfields Woods Meadow redevelopment
A week after the Pre Planning Forum for the proposed homes on the former Bohemia Manion another Pre Planning Forum was held at Hastings Town Hall on Thursday 15th October 2015 to hear proposals to demolish the existing Travelodge Hotel (Formerly Cinque Ports Hotel) and to build a new hotel with homes behind, on an enlarged site extending across the meadow behind Summerfields House B & B right up to Hastings Court / Police HQ and adjacent to the Summerfields Wood Local Nature Reserve. For this scheme to proceed HBC will have to make available land they own, currently used for informal recreation and reducing further "amenity parkland" or open space in the town. At the forum some councillors were more concerned at the need for fire appliances to negotiate parked cars than any impact on wildlife, LNR or the reduction of leisure and recreation space for existing residents. The plan below shows a new Travelodge Hotel shown in red marked 72 on the Bohemia Road frontage and a housing block shown in blue to the left on Bohemia Road. The internal road passing the hotel extends behind Summerfields House B & B crossing the existing meadow owned by HBC to the Magistrates Court and Police HQ.
Below is the presentation shown at the pre-planning forum and can be viewed using the side bar.
The artist impression below viewed from Bohemia Road shows the new hotel on the right and a block of homes on the left of the access road into the site. Two other blocks of homes can be viewed in the distance on the artist impression. Shown on the plan above but hidden on the artist impression are two further blocks of homes built on an existing meadow currently between the Magistrates Court and the existing Travelodge site.
